Are you making a life?
Wednesday, April 29, 2015 - Joe Kiedinger
I just attended a Disney Institute class on customer service, hiring the right people and lessons on life. The upcoming Wisdom’s will focus on the lessons I was reminded of. The former executive in charge of all parks, hotels and beverages of the Walt Disney World property was the keynote. He spoke of how at times he was so busy, he would lose focus along the way with his family life.
Nobody would argue that a happy family is the biggest contributor to a happy life. Are you keeping that in check? At times, during difficult times, Danica and I have had a “let’s move to Mexico” moment. You know when you’re under stress and you begin daydreaming of running away. Like that would solve anything – life would only get more stressful.
Instead, I’ve learned that happiness is found in the moment and has nothing to do with reaching a goal or success. Think about it, as soon as you hit a goal, you set another goal and it just continues. My focus over the last several years is to build a life. With that comes faith, family, friends and work. They are all important, and together they create balance that keeps our life in a wonderful place. Don’t worry, be happy! 🙂
ACTION PLAN: Spend 1-1 time with each of your kids. Take a drive around town: destination to nowhere. Just talk.
